Riverdale, Georgia - "Building Greatness Daily"
Riverdale, Georgia is located in northern Clayton County in what is called the "Southern Crescent" approximately ten miles south of Atlanta and five miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. It is the second largest city in the county just behind Forest Park as it relates to population.
Now a large metropolitan Atlanta suburb, Riverdale evolved from a small bedroom community which was named for Spratlin Rivers, a landowner who provided land for the railroad right-of-way. Even with its growth, Riverdale still maintains a strong sense of community. Today, Georgia Highway 85 is the main artery that runs south from I-75 through Riverdale to Fayetteville and Senoia and other cities.
There is something for ages. These include the state-of-the-art Virginia Burton Gray Recreation Center, Travon Wilson Memorial Park, Buster's and Frank Bailey Senior Center. Riverdale is also an excellent setting for active adult or senior living. There are three communities within the city limits - an apartment complex and two small subdivisions. And of course there is an abundance of amenities in Atlanta less than thirty minutes away.
Plans are in progress for the development of a "Livable City Initiative - New Town Center." Click on the city's website below for more information. Riverdale is truly living up to its motto - "Building Greatness Daily."
